Content: | Radiated and guided electromagnetic wavew. Fundamental parameters of antennas (radiation pattern, directivity, gain, input impedance, polarization, matching). Radiation fundamentals (reciprocity, Friis and radar equation). Linear wire antennas (dipoles, monopoles). Loop antennas. Arrays (endfire, broadside, phased). Folded dipole antenna, Yagi-Uda antenna, Log-periodic antenna. Horn antennas, Microstrip antennas, Reflector antennas.
Lab exercises for antenna measurements based on educational lab kit (Lab-Volt/Festo Didactic).
Wireless channel, path loss and fading. Propagation mechanisms (reflection/refraction, scattering, diffraction) and models. Terrestrial fixed links, mobile/cellular wireless systems (Macrocell, Microcell, Picocell, Megacell), satellite systems. Overcoming channel impairments, RF link planning. |
